The Institute for Homeland Security Studies (IHSS) was established at the National Defense University in April 2004. Its mission is to provide strategic-level homeland security/homeland defense education and related research contributing to the development of a common understanding of core homeland security principles and of effective inter-agency and multi-jurisdictional homeland security strategies, policies, and processes.
Director: The Director serves as the principal advisor to the NDU President on all homeland security/homeland defense matters, and as the University official responsible for all homeland security/homeland defense programs and activities at NDU.
