The National Security Agency and Department of Homeland Security have designated the IRM College as a “Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Education.” The College is also approved by the Committee on National Security Systems (CNSS) to award the Information Systems Security Professionals (NSTISSI No. 4011) Certificate and the Senior System Managers (CNSSI No. 4012) Certificate to students who successfully complete the five-course curriculum. These certificates also satisfy the DoD 8570.1-M (paragraph C1.4.4.13) education requirements for management personnel performing IA functions on national security systems.

In response to the Federal Information Security Management Act of 2002 (FISMA), the College also offers the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) Certificate.
