Metrorail: The closest Metrorail station to Fort McNair is the Waterfront Station (Green Line). The main gate to Fort McNair is approximately .3 miles due South on 4th Avenue from the Waterfront Station. The closest Metrorail hub to Fort McNair is L'Enfant Plaza, where the Green, Yellow, Orange and Blue lines intersect. Print a color Metrorail map. 

Metrobus: Bus #71 runs between L'Enfant Plaza and the U.S. Coast Guard HQ (V and 2nd Streets SW, Buzzard Point), next door to Fort McNair. Print a schedule for Bus #71.  You can receive a discounted rail-to-bus transfer if you use the Metro system's SmartTrip card.

Government (USG) Shuttle: A USG shuttle bus runs during morning and evening communter hours between L'Enfant Plaza (7th and E Streets SW) and the U.S. Coast Guard HQ. The shuttle requires a DHS, USCG or NDU ID/badge, although Military ID with orders is also generally accepted, particularly when in uniform. NOP will provide you with a suitable badge upon arrival.

From USCG HQ, exit the bus to your right, towards the James Creek Marina parking lot. At the far side of the parking lot is the pedestrian gate to NDU. You must show ID to enter this gate. Once inside, walk down the road to your right. The first building is Marshall Hall. Enter through the main door, and ask the security personnel fo directions to Lincoln Hall.
