Lodging / Hotels
PLEASE ARRANGE YOUR OWN LODGING; YOU HAVE MANY OPTIONS.
- HOTELS: Previous students liked the convenience of the Crystal City/Pentagon City area with the METRO-rail, shopping mall and popular restaurants within walking distance. They spoke highly of the Pentagon City Marriott Residence Inn (703) 413-6630. Make lodging arrangements early and ensure that you request military & government rates.
- PER DIEM: Washington D.C. is recognized as an area without adequate messing or billeting facilities. We will provide a non-availability statement as needed. As of 1 October 08, per diem in Washington, DC and vicinity is $71 per day for MI & E (meals and incidental expenses). Lodging per diem 1-31 October 2008 is $229; 1 November 2008 - 28 February 2010 is $207; 1 March - 30 June 2010 is $226; 1 July - 31 August is $170; and 1-30 September 2010 is $229.
- MILITARY FACILITIES: In order to stay at Fort McNair, you must call Fort Meyer billeting control, 703-696-3576. There are no restaurants open in the evening within short walking distance of Fort McNair and walking alone in this area is not advisable. There is a METRO train and bus stop within a 20 minute walk of Fort McNair lodging. Military lodging is also located at Fort Meyer, VA and Bolling AFB. Most have public transportation but it may require transfers and only run during commuting morning and evening rush hours.
Note: From Fort Meyer, catch the military shuttle to the Pentagon and then take the Navy Yard shuttle - be sure to get the correct Navy Yard shuttle - the one that stops at USCG HQ en-route. To check other local military lodging try: 1-800-GO-ARMY1
