A Message to Incoming Students
Congratulations on your selection as part of the National Defense University, Class of 2015!

We welcome you and your family to NDU, the premier national security institution focused on advanced joint education, leader development, and scholarship. NDU offers a unique academic environment to carry out the vital mission the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff has given us: supporting the joint warfighter by providing rigorous Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) to members of the U.S. Armed Forces and select others in order to develop leaders who have the ability to operate and creatively think in an unpredictable and complex world.

You have been chosen because of your outstanding record of accomplishment, but also your proven potential for future positions of leadership. NDU educates, develops, and inspires national security leaders of wisdom, character, and strength through a comprehensive and collaborative academic experience to anticipate and confront national and global security challenges. Once here, you will be encouraged and taught to innovate, adapt, and think critically and imaginatively in order to anticipate and overcome future challenges to national security. Our commitment to this vision rests upon the foundation of excellent faculty and subject matter experts, rigorous curricula and programs, and quality total health resources to make your time with us as beneficial and productive as possible.

Student acceptance packets will be distributed by email before the end of May. Please pay particular attention to the registration requirements in that email, and complete them as soon as possible. We have included links on this website to copies of those registration documents, to three prerequisite readings, and to information that will help you and your family make a smooth transition. If you have any questions concerning your upcoming move, please contact our Human Resource Directorate at (202) 685-3921 or DSN 325-3921.

Finally, we encourage you to continue visiting this “Incoming Student” section of our website for important information to help you prepare. Our website is constantly evolving, so please visit frequently.

Again, congratulations and welcome to the team! Once NDU, always NDU!
