Security, Defense and Integration

November 14 - 16, 2006 in Guatemala

CHDS, in conjunction with the Ministry of National Defense of Guatemala, will host a Sub-Regional Conferencia entitled: Security, Defense and Integration, which will take place from November 14-16, 2006 in Guatemala City, Guatemala. The conference will bring together researchers, professors from universities and war colleges, graduate students, as well as government officials from the defense and security sectors, plus graduates from both CHDS and the Inter American Defense College, primarily from the Central American countries, plus Panama, Mexico, Colombia, the Dominican Republic and Haiti.

The Conference will focus on the following topics:

• The methodological challenges in current security and defense studies.
• The sub-regional response to organized crime and other new threats.
• Sub-regional coordination for international humanitarian operations or international peace operations.
• Proposals and challenges for a sub-regional policy for security and defense.
