The Academic Programs at CHDS are designed around a series of courses, seminars, conferences, workshops, and research. These are distributed within three activity levels – Foundational Activities, Sustainment Activities, and Strategic Interactions. Among the many complimentary components of the overall program are the Foundational Courses, designed to enhance understanding and relationships critical to effective security and defense policies. Sustainment Activities include Advanced Courses, which are primarily developed for CHDS graduates and presented as continuing education courses; Advanced Policymaking Seminars (APS) on such topics as “Planning and Resource Management for the War against Terrorism” and “Defense Transformation”; and Sub-Regional Conferences (SRC), which occur annually. This diverse academic program also includes the Strategic Interaction area emphasizing support to regional and national policy-makers and leaders. CHDS supports the leadership of newly-elected governments in the region with National Security Planning Workshops (NSPW), conducted in the host nation, and also conducts Senior Executive Dialogues (SED) in Washington, DC. CHDS augments all these programs by conducting academic research that supports the Department of Defense and the defense ministries in the region. The components of these three levels of programs are thoroughly explained within this website. Please contact CHDSRegistrar@ndu.edu for further assistance. |
