Sub-Regional Conferences (SRC)
The most recent Sub-Regional Conference (SRC) was held in July 2011 in Santiago, Chile. At this time there is no SRC scheduled during 2013.
For the last seven years the Center for Hemispheric Defense Studies has organized an annual Sub-Regional Conference focusing on topics that are designed to improve the network of CHDS graduates and with regional leaders. Historically, CHDS was inaugurated at a Hemispheric Conference on Defense Education for Civilians, on September 18 - 19, 1997. This evolved into two Education and Defense Seminars (EDS) and later into three Research and Education in Defense and Security Studies Seminars (REDES) from 2001-2003. In 2004 CHDS began to operate under a new concept that gave emphasis to sub-regions within the hemisphere and to our alumni. The most recent conference in Santiago, Chile was the 7th in this series, which began in Montevideo, Uruguay in November 2005.
