Advanced Courses
The advanced course program was launched with a single offering on International and Stability Operations (StabOps), while a second advanced course, Terrorism and Counterinsurgency (TCI) made its debut in October 2007. These two courses, plus the new Advanced Defense Policy (ADP) course will return in the fall of 2008. Candidate requirements include:
- The advanced courses are primarily designed for CHDS course graduates. Other candidates will be considered on a case-by-case basis, but generally will be encouraged to apply for one of the foundational courses, as the priority will be given to CHDS graduates.
- You must wait one full calendar year to apply to an advanced course. For example, if you graduated from a three-week course at CHDS that started in October, you may apply to an advanced course, if offered, in October or later of the following year.
- Advanced courses are currently available in Spanish and English. For the courses offered in Spanish, participants must possess English reading skills consistent with university-level books and publications. Please check the CHDS website for course specifics and availability in your desired language.
- Unless otherwise instructed, military and civilian applicants will use the same application form. Civilian candidates may send their applications directly to CHDS at chdsregistrar@ndu.edu. Military candidates must send their applications to the US Military Group or US Office of Defense Cooperation in their country, who will forward it to CHDS.
