Dr. Cristián Garay Vera

            Cristián Garay Vera has a Ph.D. in American Studies from the University of Santiago de Chile (USACH); a Ph.D. in History from Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (Madrid); and Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in history from the University of Chile (Santiago, Chile). Coordinator of the Manuel Bulnes Chairman of the Working Group on security, defense and society, University of Santiago de Chile. Alumnus of the CHDS.  Professor in the seminars “International Organizations” and “International security” of the Master’s Program in international studies of the Institute of Advanced Studies of the USACH. He has published more than 70 articles in academic journals in Chile, Argentina, the United States, Bolivia, Hungary, Spain and Mexico, and various books, among which stand out “In the name of Humanity. European versus American globalization,” Military Library, Santiago, Chile 2003, 174 pp.; “National Defense policies in the MERCOSUR and associated states.  History, processes and trends 1990-2000”, University of Santiago de Chile, 2003, 295 pp; and “The chameleon nature of the postmodern conflict.” Official Library, Army of Chile, Santiago, Chile, 2004 231 pp. He is currently writing a book on the fight against terrorism in the European Union and Latin America with Luis Pérez Gil of the University of La Laguna (Canary Islands, Spain).
