Security, Sovereignty and Public Order in the Caribbean
Ivelaw Griffith
Ivelaw L. Griffith is Professor of Political Science and Dean of The Honors College at Florida International University (FIU). A specialist on Caribbean and Inter-American security and narcotics issues, he has published six books, most recently Drugs and Security in the Caribbean: Sovereignty Under Siege and The Political Economy of Drugs in the Caribbean as well as extensively in journals. The Royal Military College of Canada, the George Marshall Center for European Security Studies in Germany, and the Center for Hemispheric Defense Studies in Washington, DC are among places Dr. Griffith has been a Visiting Professor. Also, he has been a consultant to several agencies in North America and the Caribbean, and has lectured widely at scholarly, military, and diplomatic forums and institutions in the Americas and Europe. Professor Griffith serves on the editorial board of several journals, including Security and Defense Studies Review and The Caribbean Journal of Criminology and Social Psychology.
