Peruvian CHDS Alumni Association sponsors first hemispheric security and defense conference.

Over 180 participants attended a two day security and defense conference sponsored by the CHDS Peruvian Alumni Association. The conference was held at the Swissotel in Lima, Peru and marked a very successful inaugural event for the association. Invited guest speakers included Leo Gleser of Israel, Admiral Carlos Tello Aliaga of Peru, COL Juan Carlos Rico Arenas of Colombia, Dr. Marcos Pablo Moloeznik of Mexico, MG Jorge Luis Almendariz of Peru, Mr. Michael Borders and Ms. Kara O’Ryan from CHDS. Central topics presented concerned threats to national security, such as terrorism, organized crime, and environmental issues. COL Rico Arenas also included a special presentation on the sophisticated planning behind “Operation Jaque”, the Colombian military operation which rescued 15 FARC (Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia) hostages.
The Peruvian Alumni association was officially formed in January 2010. Over 250 Peruvians have attended CHDS resident courses since 1998.
