DES Instructions
DES is the online student
admission and enrollment management system used by National Defense
University students, faculty, and advisors. To use this system, you
must have a DES account, a username, and password.
New to NDU iCollege
Apply for admission here.
A DES account will be created and a username will be provided in your
letter of admission. Once you have logged into DES, follow the
COURSE REGISTRATION instructions below in order to register for your
desired course offerings.
Current Students (prior uNET users, no DES account)
You must first create
your new DES account by following the DES ACCOUNT CREATION instructions
below. After you have logged into your DES account you can register
for course offerings by following the COURSE REGISTRATION instructions
also below.
Current Students (with DES account)
Login to DES via the
link above and follow the COURSE REGISTRATION instructions below in
order to register for your desired course offerings.

DES ACCOUNT CREATION
(prior uNET users only)
COURSE REGISTRATION
At Home Page, under Course Management section:
You will be sent an email
confirmation to your email of record. Your email confirmation letter
will include your Blackboard username.

Registration Periods
Registration opens prior to the term start period on the dates below
and will close on the Friday prior to the Course Start Date (CSD).

eResident Course Model
The eResident format is a blended model in which students and faculty
engage in both online and resident activities over a five-week period.
DL Course Model
The DL format is a fully online model in which students and faculty
engage in asynchronous activities over a twelve-week period via Blackboard.

Course Materials and
Assignments
Each course offering has a site on the iCollege’s online learning
platform, Blackboard, that will be available to students six days prior
to the Course Start Date. Students must access Blackboard and sign in
immediately following the Course Start Date.
