In addition to facilitating learning through classes, courses, and programs, the iCollege responds to workforce learning needs of government organizations in areas corresponding with faculty competence. If agencies and other government organizations request tailored workshops, expert perspectives, and practical advice that aligns with the core competencies of the College and the courses offered, faculty may be deployed to work with agencies on a case-by-case basis.
Education-in-context engagements connect the faculty with “real-world” practice and challenge the understanding, creativity, and problem solving of faculty while benefiting organizations. The “education-in-context” engagements must have a positive impact on curriculum as well. Depending on the size and extent of the engagement and how close it is to the current activities of the particular faculty member, the College leadership decides whether the activities are appropriate and worthwhile for faculty learning and determines the fee to be charged to cover costs.
