Lawrence R. Chalmer is the Director of the NATO Staff Officer Orientation Course and a professor of international relations at National Defense University, Washington, D.C. In addition to his program responsibilities, he lectures frequently on NATO issues to defense and private academic institutions and has led and participated in numerous international defense related activities. He has recently led delegations providing NATO training to the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, and Romania. Mr. Chalmer is a former Massachusetts Institute of Technology Seminar XXI Fellow in Foreign Politics and International Relations. A retired U.S. Air Force officer, his assignments included tours in the area of international operations and policy as well as B-52s and FB-111s.
