Mary A. Sommerville, Senior Editor for NDU Press, was also the editor of Essays on Strategy X and XIII. She is the Press' primary book editor and also edits McNair Papers. Previously Miss Sommerville worked for the Department of Defense in the Strategic Defense Initiative Organization and in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense (Public Affairs). Miss Sommerville, who has won recognition for her outstanding editing and writing, graduated from the University of California, Berkeley.
