The Center for Strategic Research (CSR) performs the Institute’s core mission of providing objective, rigorous and timely analyses that respond to the needs of decision-makers in the Department of Defense (DOD) and other policy audiences. In formulating our research plans we pay particular attention to emerging strategic trends that pose longer-term challenges for U.S. national security and raise complex trade-offs for policy-makers. The Center includes the Center for Study of Chinese Military Affairs.
The CSR focuses on seven areas: East Asia & Pacific, Europe & Eurasia, Near East & South Asia, Western Hemisphere, Africa, Energy & Environmental Security, and Future Strategic Concepts. Special projects include "Power and Vulnerability in an Era of Contested Dominance."
