This co-hosted event held at The Marshall Hall, National Defense University, featured distinguished speakers such as Congressman Mac Thornberry (R-TX) and Undersecretary for Defense Intelligence Michael Vickers.  Dr. Lorry Fenner, Director of CRRC, introduced the Congressman (see photo).

Both gentlemen spoke in high praise of the efforts of CRRC and JHU, stressing the importance of captured documents to inform the U.S. of what steps to take in the future.  As Undersecretary Vickers stated "We are doing our utmost to ensure that al-Qa'ida doesn't have a future."

Congressman Thornberry stressed that the importance of studying these records is so that we can see the way al-Qaeda is changing, in order to be able to get ahead of the curve  - especially through sharing knowledge at conferences such at Ten Years Later, which make documents and translations available to researchers, scholars and decision makers.

CRRC posted their entire Index of Captured Records on the CRRC web pages in addition to providing key translated documents from al-Qaeda, including the original texts in Arabic.  Items range from "Dealing with the Enemy" to a document "detailing the organization of cells in cities, including command, information, supply and execution cells."
