DR FRASER CAMERON
Dr.
Cameron is Head of the Political and Academic Affairs Section in the Delegation
of the European Commission in Washington DC.
Dr Cameron was educated at the University of St Andrews where he
received an honours degree, Master of Arts, in Political Science and History.
He then obtained a Ph.D in International Relations from the University of
Cambridge. He was a Research Fellow at
the University of Hamburg (1973-74) and a Lecturer in Modern History at the University
of Kent (1974-1975). From 1975‑1989,
he was a member of the British Diplomatic Service serving inter alia in New
York, Bonn and East Berlin. Since
joining the European Commission in 1990, Dr Cameron has been closely involved
in the external relations of the Union, specializing in transatlantic
relations, European security issues and enlargement. Dr Cameron has been a Visiting Professor at the College of Europe
in Bruges, the European University in Florence and the University of Edinburgh. He has lectured widely in Europe and the US.
Dr Cameron is the author of a number of
books and articles on European affairs, most recently “The Enlargement of the
European Union” (1998) and “The Foreign and Security Policy of the European
Union: Past, Present and Future” (1999).
