DR. KAREN E. DONFRIED

Dr. Donfried is a Specialist in European Affairs in the Foreign Affairs, Defense, and Trade Division of the Congressional Research Service. She has authored numerous reports for Congress on European issues. Her most recent publications cover European Union enlargement, Northern Ireland, European security and defense policy, and Germany. Before assuming this position in 1991, she completed a Ph.D. (1991) and M.A.L.D. (1988) at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy; a Magister at the University of Munich (Germany) in 1986; and a B.A. at Wesleyan University in 1984. Dr. Donfried currently serves on the Advisory Council of the American Institute for Contemporary German Studies in Washington and on the Editorial Board of International Studies Perspectives, a new journal launched by the International Studies Association.
