DR. ROLF SCHUMACHER

 

Dr. Schumacher is Deputy Political Director General, Auswärtiges Amt, Berlin.  Prior to his current assignment, he was Director for International Security Policy and North America, Auswärtiges Amt, Berlin.  Dr. Schumacher earned a Ph.D. in Indology at the University of Mainz/Germany, assignment as teacher for Hindi and Urdu at the University of Kiel.  In 1975, he attended Foreign Service Training at the German Foreign Service School in Bonn.  Dr. Schumacher has held positions of Second Secretary (Cultural Affairs) at the Embassy in Tehran/IRAN; First Secretary (Consular Affairs) at the Embassy in Bangkok/THAILAND; Political Department (Western Europe and North America), Auswärtiges Amt; Counsellor (Political Section) German Delegation to NATO, Brussels; Deputy Head NATO-Desk, Auswärtiges Amt; Deputy Chief of Mission in Algiers/ALGERIA; Deputy Chief of Mission in Rabat/MOROCCO; Office of the Federal President, Bonn; and, Head of NATO-Desk, Auswärtiges Amt, Bonn.
