MR. YASUHIRO MATSUDA
Senior Research Fellow, The
National Institute for Defense Studies, Tokyo
(Currently a Visiting Fellow
at the Asia Pacific Center for Security Studies, Honolulu)
Mr. Matsuda is a Senior Research Fellow at the
National Institute for Defense Studies. He specializes in Politics in China and
Taiwan/PRC‑Taiwan Relations. He concurrently holds the post of staff
official, Office of Strategic Studies, Defense Policy Division, Bureau of
Defense Policy, Japanese Defense Agency. From 1994 to 1996, Mr. Matsuda was the
Consulate‑General of Japan, Hong Kong. He holds a B.A. (Literature) from
Reitaku University, Chiba‑ken, an M.A. (International Studies) fro Tokyo
University of Foreign Studies, and a Ph.D. Candidate (Law), Keio University,
Tokyo. His major publications include "The 'Reconstruction' of the
Kuomintang: the Leader, the party, and the Government" (1994) Gapanese);
"Policy‑Making Process of the Land Reform in Taiwan: The Role of
Technocrats" (1995) Gapanese); "China's Taiwan Policy: the
'Liberation' Period" (1996) Gapanese); "China's Taiwan Policy, 1979‑1987"
(1996) Gapanese); "PRC's Taiwan Policy: the Making of Jiang Zemin's Eight‑Point
Proposal" (1997) Gapanese); "Sino‑Taiuwanese Relationship"
(1998) Gapanese); and, "The Kuomintang's Control over Taiwan's Local
Political Society in the Early 1950s" (1999) Gapanese). Mr. Matsuda is
currently a Visiting Fellow at the Asia Pacific Center for Security Studies,
Honolulu.
