Air Commodore Jasjit Singh, AVSM, VrC, VM, IAF (retd), former Director of Operations of the Indian Air Force, is Director of the Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses, New Delhi since 1987. Author and editor of more than two dozen books including Air Power in Modern Warfare; Non-provocative Defence; Nuclear India;  Kargil 1999: Pakistan's Fourth War for Kashmir ; and India's Defence Spending: Assessing Future Needs, he has published extensively on strategic and security issues. Visiting lecturer at defence and war colleges in India and abroad. Was member of the International Commission for a new Asia. Consultant to the Standing Committee of Defence of the Parliament; Adviser and Member of National Security Advisory Board.
