LI ZHAOXING

Ambassador Li Zhaoxing is
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China
to the United States. Between 1995
and 1998 he served as Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs.
He has previously served as Guest Professor of Beijing University and
Nankai University; and from 1992 to 1995 he served as Permanent Representative
and Ambassador and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the
United Nations. The Ambassador was
also assigned as the Deputy Director General and Director General of the
Information Department of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs; First
Secretary of the Chinese Embassy of the Kingdom of Lesotho; Staff Member and
Deputy Division Chief of the Information Department of the Chinese Ministry of
Foreign Affairs; Staff Member and Attaché of the Chinese Embassy in Kenya; and
Staff Member of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs.
From 1964 to 1967 he was a postgraduate student at Beijing Institute of
Foreign Languages.
