Krishna Chandra Pant, son of Bharat Rata Late Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant, Freedom Fighter, Premier of Uttar Pradesh 1937-1939, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, 1946-1954, Union Home Minister, 1955-1961.

 

Presently, Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission, Government of India, Chairman of Prime Minister's Task Force on Infrastructure and also the Member, National Security Council.

 

Born at Bhowali, Nainital District, Uttar Pradesh, India; educated at St. Joseph's College Nainital; M.Sc. from Lucknow University (Chancellor's Gold Medal); Post Graduate Studies in West Germany; awarded Honorary Doctorate Degree by Udaipur University in 1975-76; Honorary Doctorate Degree by the Andhra Pradesh University, Waltair, 1985-86; Married in June, 1957 to Shrimati Ila Pant, Member of Parliament, 12th Lok Sabha; 2 sons
