Welcome to the International Student Management Office (ISMO), administrative home to all international students attending NDU in-residence. ISMO executes security assistance programs for select members of the international defense community by providing sustained superior support for all international students and families assigned to NDU. Students come to NDU for courses ranging from two weeks to one year. Whatever the duration of their stay, ISMO is committed to meeting the personal and professional needs of our international students so that they may be able to fully concentrate on their academic experience. International students who wish to enroll at NDU must be nominated by their respective government. NDU does not accept direct entry applicants. The US military coordinates attendance of all international students with their respective military counterparts through our embassies around the world. International students who wish to apply to NDU must coordinate application details with their own governments before contacting NDU. We will make every effort to provide a relevant, growing, and elastic information resource on these pages that is of real value to our students (prospective, present and past) and to all others with a genuine interest in our professional military education, research and international engagement activities. Please navigate through our web site and learn about ISMO, its component programs, staff and students.

- Col John Charlton USAF (Ret)

To reflect growth and changing mission, the International Fellows Program Office has been reorganized into the International Student Management Office (ISMO), effective 1 October 2001. ISMO manages all security assistance programs for the National Defense University. This includes the International Fellows Program and the Counterterrorism Fellows Program. ISMO manages many other students in various colleges and programs throughout NDU.
