Library Logo Visitor Access to NDU Library

You are eligible to use the NDU Library if you are (ID required):

Visitors must also meet University security regulations which govern access to University buildings. Those with DOD ID cards may be admitted without escort. All other visitors must be signed in by an authorized University employee. Library staff will not sign in visitors unless the visitor is on official library business or has made an appointment to visit the library for scholarly research. All visitors are given an NDU visitor badge which must be displayed at all times.

The NDU Library Director approves visits. In your request, state the date, time, and purpose of your visit. Visits are only approved for a specific date, time, and purpose. Open, unlimited access will not be approved. University activities and prior commitments also impact approval of visits.

All visitors must leave the Library before 1700 when the building closes.

As a visitor to the NDU Library, you have limited access. Limited access is defined as self-directed onsite usage; it does not include use of copying facilities, loan of materials, cost-incurring research services, document delivery, FAX, interlibrary loan, or other privileges and services granted to primary mission users. Only government employees may use the electronic products on Library workstations; NDU personnel have first priority at all times. Other rules of common sense, good judgment, and consideration for others apply.

Materials are not loaned directly to visitors; you may request Inter-Library Loan (ILL) of NDU materials through your own library. Record the title, author, and call number of the book; or the journal title, article title, volume and issue number, and date; provide that information to the interlibrary loan desk at your library.

Non-US citizens must request access through the NDU security office. The NDU Security Office requires approval through the DIA Foreign Liaison Office arranged through your embassy.
