Mr. Dave Hill
Mr. Dave Hill is assigned to the NWC faculty as the Department of Homeland Security Chair. He is a retired U.S. Coast Guard Captain, who served on active duty for over 34 years. During his career, he had numerous assignments on board Coast Guard cutters, including major cutter command. Additionally, he served as the Training Officer at USCG boot camp and the supervisor of the world’s busiest maritime operations center, where he coordinated law enforcement and search and rescue operations for the entire Southeastern U.S. and Caribbean Sea maritime domains. He was also assigned as the national director of the Coast Guard Auxiliary—the 35,000-member volunteer arm of the Coast Guard. He completed his career as the Coast Guard Chair at ICAF, where he taught national security studies for 3 years. His functional expertise is maritime security, law enforcement, and naval warfare. His specialties are counter-drug, migrant-interdiction operations, and maritime search and rescue. His regional expertise is the Caribbean area of operations. Mr. Hill received a BA in business from Columbia College and an MA in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College, Class of 2001. He is an adjunct professor of history at the College of Southern Maryland.
