THE NWC CREST
DESCRIPTION
The shield is the National Colors. The crossed pens represent the State
Department. The three swords on the white chevron represent the Departments
of the Army, Navy, and Air Force. The laurel and oak branches represent
achievement and strength. The lamp of knowledge on the crest is a recognized
symbol of learning.
SHIELD
Per chevron gules and azure: on a chevron argent, three swords of the
second palewise. In chief two quill pens crossed, sinister over dexter.
CREST
On a wreath of the colors, a lamp of knowledge lighted, azure. Surrounding
the shield to dexter a wreath of laurel and to sinister a wreath of oak,
all proper, entwined with a scroll argent edged or inscribed National
War College sable.
