Colonel Pat Pihana
joined the NWC faculty in October 2009 upon completing command of the 18th Air Support Operations Group at Pope AFB, NC. Col Pihana enlisted in the Air Force in September 1973 and was later commissioned a second lieutenant in May 1984. He holds a BS in Aeronautical Science (1980) and an MAS in Aviation Management (1992) from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and an MS in National Security Studies from the National War College (2004). Col Pihana completed over 30 years in Special Operations in staff and operational assignments spanning CONUS, Europe, the Pacific and the Middle-East, including SOCEUR, PACAF, HQ USAF, SOCCENT, USSOCOM and ACC, commanding units from Detachment through Group level. Col Pihana completed combat tours in OEF and OIF as Commander, 23d Special Tactics Squadron, Hurlburt Field, FL. He holds qualifications as a Combat Diver and Master Parachutist, and is a joint qualified officer.
