


COL Will David joined the National War College faculty in July 2012. A career intelligence officer with over 28 years of service, he has commanded through brigade level and held a wide range of command and staff assignments in the 24th Infantry Division, 3rd Infantry Division, 32d Army Air Defense Command, 7th Army Training Command, U.S. Army Cadet Command, Intelligence and Security Command, U.S. Army Test and Evaluation Command, Army Staff, Office of the Secretary of Defense, and the Multi-National Security Transition Command-Iraq. His overseas experience includes much of the Middle East, South and Central Asia, Africa, Central America, Europe, and the Caribbean. Prior to joining the faculty, he served for three years as the Deputy Director of the Secretary of Defense's Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Task Force where he managed a $10B portfolio of over 600 intelligence programs. His most recent overseas tour was in Iraq from 2008-2009 as an advisor to the intelligence agencies within the Iraqi Ministries of Defense and Interior.
COL David is a graduate of the US Army Command and General Staff School, the School of Advance Military Studies, and the National War College. He also earned a history degree from Davidson College and a master of international relations degree from Boston University. He is a doctoral candidate and adjunct professor at the School for Conflict Analysis and Resolution, George Mason University. His research and teaching interests include conflict causation, social movements, contested security discourses, risk theories, threat construction and prioritization, environmental conflict, elites and power, identity theories, superordinate goals, narrative mediation, and critical conflict resolution.
