Shaida Mohammad Abdali, Ambassador of Afghanistan to India, Gives Talk at CISA

On September 22nd, the College of International Security Affairs held a brownbag discussion on the “Evolving Situation in Afghanistan” with Ambassador Shaida Mohammad Abdali, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to India and the non-resident Ambassador of Afghanistan to Nepal, Bhutan and the Maldives. Ambassador Abdali served as the Deputy National Security Advisor to the former President of Afghanistan, H.E. Hamid Karzai. He graduated from NDU’s College of International Security Affairs in in 2008 and is one of the four new Inductees in NDU’s International Fellows Hall of Fame. 


Ambassador Abdali shared his experience as Deputy National Security Advisor and the lessons learned from the transitional period of Afghanistan regarding security, economic, and political concerns. He also shared how his valuable experience at NDU helped him with his career when he went back to Afghanistan. Ambassador Abdali discussed the goals of the government regarding peace and stability in the region and outlined measures that they are taking to reach these goals, highlighting the importance of economic integration as a win-win solution.
