Mr. Brian Mansfield is currently the Chief of Staff for the National Defense University (NDU) and Acting Chancellor for the National Intelligence College (NIC). As a SES equivalent, he oversees six colleges, with an additional six academic and support divisions with 1170 annual students, 715 faculty & staff, with a $174M annual budget. As the interim chancellor, he is overseeing the college joining NDU with 372 students, 77 faculty & staff, and a $32M annual budget.
Brian is retired from the USAF with assignments to the USAF Thunderbirds, USAF Weapons School, senior US government representative on treaty verification missions, several combat deployments, with various other assignments and command positions. His flying positions culminating in more than 2,000 flying hours in the E-3B/C Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS), OC-135, Tu-154, An-30, and SAAB 340 aircraft, with combat deployments in the Control and Reporting Center (CRC).
He is a distinguished graduate of the USAF Weapons School, a qualified Joint Staff Officer (JSO), a graduate of the College of International Security Affairs (CISA), and the Army Command and General Staff College (CGSC). Staff assignments included the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), and the National Defense University (NDU).
