We are pleased to welcome you as one of the first students in the National Intelligence College (NIC), the newest college of the National Defense University (NDU). As NIC completes its transition from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) to NDU under the Department of War (DoW), you are joining the institution at a significant milestone in its history.

Has the academic calendar changed since the transfer to NDU?
NIC will follow an academic calendar similar to previous years for Academic Year (AY) 2026–2027. The AY26–27 Academic Calendar is available here. In future academic years, NIC will transition toward alignment with the standard NDU academic calendar.
Do I need a new badge to access ICC-B and Roberdeau Hall?

How do I contact NIC faculty and staff?
All NIC faculty and staff now use @ndu.edu email addresses. Active NDU/NIC students will also have access to faculty biographies and contact information through NDU resources.
I am a continuing student, but I received an admission letter from NDU. Do I need to take any action?
Yes. As part of NIC's transition to NDU, all students—both new and continuing—must complete the required onboarding process.
When you receive your admission email through NDU Connect, you must complete the required onboarding tasks to activate your enrollment. Failure to complete these steps may delay your transition to NDU.

I previously took classes at NIU. How do I continue my studies at NIC?
Students who were actively enrolled at NIU during Academic Year 2025–2026 will automatically receive admission to NDU/NIC.
Students who were not actively enrolled should contact NIC_Admissions@ndu.edu for additional guidance. Depending on individual circumstances, some students may be required to submit a new application before resuming their studies.

I completed courses at NIU. Will they count toward an NIC/NDU degree or certificate?
Yes. Courses completed at NIU will be transferred to your NDU academic record and will apply toward applicable NIC degree or certificate programs.
As part of the transition to NDU, course numbers and credit values have been updated to align with NDU academic policies. A course equivalency guide is available to help students identify corresponding NIC courses.
Have program requirements changed with the transition to NDU?
Program requirements for Academic Year 2026–2027 remain largely consistent with those previously offered at NIU.
