On May 29, 2014, USAID Administrator Rajiv Shah visited NDU to formally dedicate a USAID Corridor at the National War College with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The dedication marked the 50th anniversary of the graduation of the first USAID student from the National War College.
Shah was introduced by National War College Commandant Brigadier General Guy Cosentino to NDU senior leaders, students, faculty and alumni gathered in Arnold auditorium. Shah gave a superb presentation on the linkages between poverty, environmental degradation, drought and security threats. He explained how USAID's mission of combating extreme poverty and promoting the development of resilient, democratic societies in the world's most volatile regions is integral to U.S. national security.
