Tom Brokaw speaks about The Greatest Generation during Veteran's Day Week at NDU

By Anthony Scioscia

On November 10, NDU hosted Tom Brokaw in Lincoln Hall Auditorium as part of the 3th Annual Haydn Williams World War II Memorial Legacy Lecture Series. This event was part of an annual lecture series that features distinguished historians and others speaking on the significance and impact of World War II on American society and the world. Tom Brokaw was selected as this year’s speaker because of the publication of his book on WWII called The Greatest Generation, one of the most popular nonfiction books of the 20th century.

Brokaw’s discussion argued that the American generation that came of age during the Great Depression and WWII were among our nation’s finest. He went on to explain how the challenges that these Americans faced uniquely prepared them to become the architects of the transformative ideas of the post-WWII era. Brokaw concluded his discussion highlighting the profound impact this generation had on American society and the indelible legacy of sacrifice and service they left behind.
