Master of Science in Strategic Intelligence (MSSI)

The MSSI program prepares intelligence professionals to understand global threats, emerging risks, and the evolving geopolitical landscape in support of the National Security Strategy. Students from across the Intelligence Community—including military and civilian organizations—study together, gaining insight into one another’s missions and capabilities.

Guided by NIU faculty, graduates develop a comprehensive understanding of the Intelligence Community, its relationship with policymakers, and the integration of national, allied, and domestic intelligence required to support strategic decision-making.

Master of Science in Science and Technology Intelligence (MSTI)

The MSTI program prepares intelligence professionals to assess science- and technology-driven threats through a strong foundation in engineering, applied science, and emerging technologies. Designed for students with technical backgrounds, the program emphasizes focused research, specialized education, and interagency engagement within a science-based intelligence framework.

Aligned with the DNI’s competencies for S&T intelligence officers, MSTI integrates strategic intelligence fundamentals with a tailored concentration of study, enabling students to develop deep expertise in their chosen research area and support informed national security decision-making.
