Interlibrary Loans for Non-NDU Personnel

For Individual Borrowers:
Your supporting library, whether public library, office library or school library, is able to borrow materials from the NDU Library and/or other libraries. Print the record(s) you want, take it to your local library, and ask them to interlibrary loan the materials for you.

 For Institutions:

  • OCLC Symbol: NDU (enter NDU twice in lender string)
  • Requests accepted via OCLC, ALA (American Library Association) form, and fax (202-685-3733).
  • Charges: Loans and copies are free to reciprocal libraries as mission permits
  • Loan period is 45 days, which includes mail time. NDU prefers not to lend new books.
  • Will photocopy up to 25 pages (as mission permits)
  • Non-circulating materials: reference, periodicals, new books (1999 pub. date), newspapers, reserves, microform, CD-ROMs, and audio-visuals.

Overdue Materials: Immediate return or replacement will be requested for interlibrary loans 15 days or more overdue. Library services to delinquent library will be suspended pending resolution of overdue. Renewals may be granted via OCLC or by calling 202-685-3968, 5 days before the due date to request an extension.

Restriction: No international interlibrary loans.
