Tunisian Defense Minister Discusses North African Security with NDU Experts

On 26 May, His Excellency Farhat Horchani, Minister of National Defense of Tunisia, visited National Defense University in order to meet with NDU President Major General Frederick Padilla and subject matter experts on North African security issues and counterterrorism. In particular, Ambassador Gordon Gray, formerly the United States Ambassador to Tunisia from 2009-2012 and now Deputy Commandant at the National War College, and Lieutenant General (Ret.) Terry Wolff, formerly Director, J5 and currently Director of the Near East South Asia Center, responded to Minister Horchani’s explanation of his nation’s defense priorities in the wake of its transition to democracy. Minister Horchani was in Washington at the invitation of Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter, and accompanying the Minister was Tunisia’s new Ambassador to the United States, His Excellency Faucial Gouia.
