NDU, Korea Institute for Defense Analyses Presidents Meet to Discuss East Asian Security

By Daniel Khouri

On 10 June LTG (retired) Hong Jeon Han, President, Korea Institute for Defense Analyses (KIDA), visited National Defense University to meet with NDU President Major General Frederick Padilla (USMC) and members of the Institute for National Strategic Studies (INSS) to discuss East Asian security issues. The group also discussed the historic relationship between INSS and KIDA, and between the Korean National Defense University and the NDU. They touched briefly on the remembrance of the Korean War and its lasting legacy. Both groups shared hopeful remarks for the continued cooperation between South Korea and the United States through their respective universities, research institutions and, more broadly, their nation's military. LTG Han’s visit was in conjunction with the annual trilateral meetings between INSS, KIDA, and their Japanese counterpart, the National Institute for Defense Studies (NIDS).
