On Friday 18 September 2015, a delegation led Mongolian State Secretary of Defense Major General Zagdsuren Boldbaatar, who also served as the former head of Mongolia’s National Defense University, visited NDU. The delegation was received by NDU Senior Vice President Ambassador Wanda Nesbitt and National War College Deputy Commandant, and former Ambassador to Mongolia, Ambassador Piper Campbell.
During the visit, Major General Zagdsuren expressed a strong interest to continue the Joint Professional Military Education relationship between the two countries, noting in particular the possibility of sending civilian students from Mongolia as well as partnership on research, publications or conferences. The Mongolian delegation was given a tour of the NDU campus and received several NDU publications as gifts, including INSS’s Paradox of Power; Sino American Strategic Restraint in an Age of Vulnerability as well as Dr. Phillips Saunders’ (INSS) most recent book PLA Influence on China’s National Security Policymaking published out of Stanford.
